PROP-TOBERFEST fundraiser set for Sunday to support families in need

Stuart SudakBy Stuart SudakSeptember 20, 20242 Mins Read

PROP Food Shelf has a simple goal for its inaugural PROP-TOBERFEST: Make it a much-anticipated annual Eden Prairie tradition.

“We are aiming to reach new audiences to increase awareness of PROP, as well as support for our mission to offer food and financial assistance to those struggling to make ends meet,” said PROP Executive Director Jenifer Loon. “The games and family-friendly activities, including two live bands, should make it a fun time for all ages while raising funds to help our neighbors in need.”

The event runs from noon to 4 p.m. Sunday, Sept. 22, at Fat Pants Brewing Co., 8335 Crystal View Road. Wristbands are $10, or $25 for families of three or more. There’ll be outdoor games hosted by local businesses, indoor bingo, and door prizes. Food and a special PROP-TOBERFEST beer will be available, with part of the proceeds benefiting PROP.

Loon said the event will feature a mix of traditional PROP-TOBERFEST activities, such as the “PROP Pound,” where participants use hammers and nails, along with a kids’ mini-carnival that includes face painting, pumpkin crafts, a duck pond, and a cake walk.

Music will play a big role in the day’s entertainment. The Jolly Pops, a local children’s music group, will perform from 12:30 to 1:15 p.m. The six-member band Wondercure, known for their classic rock covers, will follow from 2 to 4 p.m.

Due to road construction on Prairie Center Drive, Loon recommends taking an alternate route: from Flying Cloud Drive, turn onto Regional Center Road, then head to Crystal View or Commonwealth Drive. Overflow parking will be available across the street at the Commonwealth Drive shopping center lot.

PROP, a registered 501(c)(3), provides food and financial assistance to Eden Prairie and Chanhassen residents facing housing, employment, or financial insecurity.
