    Carlie voted for extreme taxes

Letter to EditorBy Letter to EditorSeptember 11, 2024Updated:September 27, 20241 Min Read

According to the law firm Jackson Lewis P.A., which tracks such things, after the most recent 2024 Minnesota State House session, the Democrat majority passed a significant number of new taxes for Minnesotans, totaling $558 million. It’s important to note that Eden Prairie’s state House representative, Carlie Kotyza-Witthuhn, voted for all of these new taxes. For example, when budgets are stretched due to inflation-related concerns, Carlie signed the Paid Family Medical Leave Act, which, while sounding good, raises the payroll tax deduction for all Minnesotans by 25%.

That means, of course, when we’re all trying to make ends meet with inflated costs, our payroll checks will be smaller. Being helpful is one thing, but the actual appropriations and new taxes handed down this year by Carlie and her colleagues are extreme, raising the cost of government by an incredible 40%.

I plan to vote against Carlie Kotyza-Witthuhn and for the more centrist Wendi Russo for District 49B state representative.
