This November, Eden Prairie residents will have the opportunity to vote on candidates at the national, state, county, and city levels.
In my opinion, it’s the city elected officials who have the greatest ability and potential to positively impact our lives on a day-to-day basis.
Our council oversees four main areas of responsibilities: public safety, public works, parks and recreation, and public policy. To maintain a healthy/vibrant city, it’s critical to elect leadership that is responsive to resident needs AND competent in city governance, policies, and best practices.
Our current council represents a diverse set of opinions, perspectives, and experiences. We’re involved, available, and informed. Most importantly, we really like each other! This works to create an environment in which city staff feel supported, our residents benefit from high-quality services, and our community continues to be a desired place to live.
This fall, two of our current council members, PG Narayanan and Lisa Toomey, are running for reelection.
PG brings a breadth of experience from his years in corporate America and currently as founder and CEO of IT startups. With experience in business and a degree from Harvard, Lisa is the quintessential Eden Prairie volunteer currently chairing the Eden Prairie Crime Prevention Fund, volunteering at The PROP Shop, and leading Meals on Wheels in her past.
Residents often tell me how much they love Eden Prairie. I feel gratified knowing that our city today is in a really good place with some of the lowest annual tax levy increases, the finest police and fire departments in the state, the best park and trail system of any comparable suburban city, award-winning schools, and a strong business community.
All of this doesn’t occur by accident. It takes thoughtful, informed, committed, and determined leaders to make it happen. I hope you will join me in supporting and voting for PG Narayanan and Lisa Toomey for Eden Prairie City Council to ensure that Eden Prairie remains the best place to live in Minnesota!
Ron Case, Eden Prairie
