The Wings of the North Air Museum will celebrate its one-year anniversary at its new location at Flying Cloud Airport on Sunday, Sept. 15. The event, offering free admission from 11 a.m. to 3 p.m., will feature guided tours of the museum and its restoration hangar.

Visitors can explore four aircraft, including a Boeing Stearman biplane that was once stationed at the Twin Cities Naval Air Station during World War II. This plane holds historical significance, as former President George H.W. Bush soloed in it twice as a Navy cadet in 1943. The museum showcases Minnesota’s rich aviation history, with this aircraft playing a key role in that story.

Also on display will be a 1946 Cessna 140, which is the grand prize in Wings of the North’s annual airplane sweepstakes. Sweepstakes entries are available online, and the winner – who can choose between the plane or a $30,000 cash prize – will be announced during the museum’s pancake breakfast on Saturday, Sept. 28.

Event access is through Gate H, one mile west of Flying Cloud Drive on Pioneer Trail.
