A hot August day brought people from across the Twin Cities to Round Lake Park, where the annual Eden Prairie Lions Club Corn Feed turned the park into a hub of sweet corn and community spirit.

From left, Audra Houdek, Ron Whitman, and Jeff Houdek prepare the corn for the event.

The event, held on Aug. 3, drew crowds from 11 a.m. to 5 p.m., all enticed by the aroma of steaming corn from Untiedt’s Vegetable Farms in Waverly, Minnesota.

Attendees came from near and far, including Becky Peeper of St. Paul and Paul Santiago of Chaska. When asked what drew them to the event, Peeper succinctly replied, “the corn.” With 4,000 ears of corn freshly steamed and generously buttered, it was a delightful treat for all.

For nearly 60 years, the Corn Feed has been a cornerstone of the Lions Club’s fundraising efforts, alongside events like Schooner Days, the Pancake Breakfast, and the recently revived golf tournament.

Proceeds from the event support a wide array of community initiatives, including PROP Food Shelf, The PROP Shop Eden Prairie, Minnesota Lions Gift of Sight Eye Bank, Minnesota Lions Hearing Foundation, Can Do Canines, True Friends Camp Eden Wood, and scholarships for local high school seniors.
