    EPLN OBITUARIES

On July 16, 2024, Cleve Edward “Bud” Fitzsimmons, 79, passed away peacefully at his home in Sun City, Arizona, surrounded by family and loved ones.

Bud was born on Aug. 18, 1944, to Willard and Lucille (Simonson) Fitzsimmons in Minneapolis, Minnesota. He was the fourth child of eight. In 1962, Bud graduated from Patrick Henry High School in Minneapolis and joined the United States Air Force, serving for four years.

Bud met his love, Margaret Susan Springer “Peggi” at a New Year’s Eve party in 1963. This was the start of a 60-year relationship. He married Peggi on May 27, 1967. Bud and Peg welcomed their first child, Sean, in 1970, followed by Daniel in 1974. Bud and Peg settled into their home in Eden Prairie in 1976.

Bud had a successful lifelong career in the printed circuit board industry from 1967 to 2010.

Bud embraced his identity as a father and coached his boys’ soccer, T-ball, and, most importantly, their hockey teams. He also found himself a true supporter of his kids’ musical performances and attended almost every concert and production.

He thoroughly enjoyed himself at the cabin on Dead Lake, fishing, boating and spending time with family and friends. He was an avid Vikings and Wild fan, even after moving to Arizona. He also enjoyed golf, reading, movies, traveling, and attending live theater and musical performances.

Upon retirement, Bud and Peg relocated to Sun City, Arizona.

Bud is survived by his wife, Peggi; sons, Sean (Terra) and Daniel (Amy); and daughter-in-law, Susan Hausladen. Grandchildren are August, Colm, Moira, Ambrose, and Atticus; brothers, Lee and Jim; sister, Pauline; brothers- and sisters-in-law; and many nieces and nephews.

A memorial service celebrating Bud’s life will be held Aug. 4 at American Legion Post 62 in Glendale, Arizona, with military honors at 9:30 a.m. Visitation and lunch will follow until noon. A Minnesota service will follow at a later date.
