    EPIC summer field trips offer adventure, enrichment

    With summer vacation in full swing, Eden Prairie Schools Community Education is offering several fun field trips to keep students engaged and entertained.

    Five field trips for students in grades six to nine this summer are currently open for registration through EPIC youth programming. Each field trip involves a fee for transportation and entry tickets.

    Whether scaling heights at adventure parks or exploring the inside of ancient caves, the trips are designed to foster curiosity, learning, and camaraderie. Students can sign up with friends or make new friends on the excursions.

    Dodge Nature Center: July 19, 11 a.m. to 3:00 p.m. Cost: $45

    Step into the wild with the Dodge Nature Center Wilderness Skills workshop! Get ready for an action-packed day of teamwork, problem-solving, and mastering the art of survival in the great outdoors. Students will build survival shelters and learn about fire-building in the outdoors, so whether you’re a seasoned outdoor enthusiast or a first-time camper, the Dodge Nature Center Wilderness Skills workshop is your ticket to mastering the wild and embracing the thrill of survival.

    Trollhaugen Adventure Park: Friday, July 26, 8:45 a.m. to 4:30 p.m. Cost: $55

    The Trollhaugen Adventure Park meets the challenge of a giant, floating playground reminiscent of an Ewok Village crossed with a Ninja Warrior course. Backed by top-notch safety gear, students are sure to find their challenge. With four levels of difficulty – Green, Green/Blue, Blue, and Black – there’s something for every adventurer. Trollhaugen has made it the ultimate outdoor experience for those seeking fun and excitement at every turn.

    Hocokata Ti: Friday, Aug. 2, 11:30 a.m. to 3 p.m. Cost: $35

    Embark on a journey of cultural discovery at Hocokata Ti, where every visit is an opportunity to delve into the rich history of Native American heritage. Whether you’re drawn to in-depth discussions or prefer hands-on learning experiences, there’s something here for everyone. Professional cultural interpreters will lead the group through the exhibit, offering profound insights into the significance of each display and artifact. From ancient traditions to contemporary perspectives, every moment spent at Hocokata Ti is a chance to deepen your understanding and appreciation of Native American culture.

    Crystal Cave: Friday, Aug. 9, 9:30 a.m. to 4:30 p.m. Cost: $40

    In this captivating underground adventure, every step unveils the secrets of the Earth’s mysterious depths. Led by a certified cave guide, students will delve into the fascinating world of geology, discovering the intricate processes that shape these subterranean wonders. Along the way, you’ll also learn about the diverse array of animals that call caves home, adding a fascinating layer of biodiversity to your exploration. And don’t miss the chance to witness the enchanting glow of florescent and phosphorescent rocks, illuminating the darkness with their radiant hues under the glow of black light. Join us for an unforgettable journey through Crystal Cave, where adventure and discovery await around every corner.

    Valleyfair: Friday, Aug. 16, 8:30 a.m. to 4:30 p.m. Cost: $55

    Get ready to make a splash at Valleyfair – it’s field trip time! Round up your buddies and buckle up for a day packed with thrills, spills, and endless fun. Test your skills and win big at the fun games scattered throughout the park and when the heat kicks in, cool off at the water park, where wild slides and lazy rivers offer the ultimate chill-out zone. So grab your sunscreen, grab your pals, and get ready to turn up the excitement at Valleyfair.
