Minnesota residents eligible to receive refund of donations to candidates for state office

EPLN Staff ReportsBy EPLN Staff ReportsJune 27, 20241 Min Read

The Minnesota Political Contribution Refund (PCR) Program allows Minnesotans to donate $75 per person or $150 per married couple to candidates for Minnesota state offices and/or Minnesota political parties and receive a refund up to those amounts.

    Participation follows a three-step process:

    1. Send your contribution directly to a qualifying candidate through their website.
    2. Your candidate’s treasurer will send you a contribution receipt and PCR application form in the mail.
    3. Complete the PCR application form and mail it to the Minnesota Department of Revenue with the contribution receipt. You will receive a refund check in the mail or direct deposit. It’s your choice.

To qualify for the Minnesota PCR program, you must meet a few requirements:

    • You are a United States citizen.
    • You are age 18 years or older.
    • You lived in Minnesota for at least 20 days immediately before any 2024 statewide or local election in which you would be eligible to vote if you were registered
