Top-seeded Benilde-St. Margaret’s boys lacrosse team defeated fifth-seeded Eden Prairie 11-7 in the state tournament semifinals Thursday night at Chaska High School.

Eden Prairie started strong with an early 2-0 lead and ended the first quarter tied 2-2. However, Benilde-St. Margaret’s dominated the second quarter, going into halftime with a 7-3 lead. Both teams scored four goals each in the second half. Despite Eden Prairie’s rally to score the final two goals in the fourth quarter, Benilde-St. Margaret’s held on for the win.

Senior captain Danny Burke led the Eagles with three goals. Junior Johnny Kleis, junior captain Max Kukla, sophomore Brady Palmer, and sophomore Oscar Berggren each added a goal.

Eden Prairie will play second-seeded Stillwater in the state tournament third-place game at 1 p.m. Saturday at Chaska High School. Stillwater lost to third-seeded Lakeville North 17-5 on Thursday.
