The Eden Prairie High School (EPHS) girls golf team competed in an invitational tournament on Tuesday, May 15, at Bunker Hills Golf Course in Coon Rapids. The 18-hole event, which began with an 11:30 a.m. shotgun start, featured 20 high school teams from around the region.

A shotgun start places teams on different holes at the beginning of the tournament. For example, a team might start on the 5th hole and finish on the 4th hole after completing the round.

Competing teams included Andover, Anoka, Armstrong, Blaine, Centennial, Chanhassen, Coon Rapids, East Ridge, Eastview, Forest Lake, Irondale, Mahtomedi, Mounds View, Osseo, Park Center, Rogers, Saint Michael-Albertville, Spectrum, Spring Lake Park, Stillwater, Totino-Grace, Two Rivers, and Wayzata.

EPHS finished 10th out of the 20 teams, according to head coach Marty Teigen.

“We played OK,” Teigen said in a text message. “Each match we are trying to improve in parts of our game. We have not had a match yet where all players hit their groove on the same day. Hoping to be peaking at the (Girls Section 2AAA Tournament) May 28-29 at Ridges at Sand Creek in Jordan.”

Six EPHS players competed in the tournament:

    • Senior captain MacKinnie Coburn led the team with the lowest score of 87.
    • Senior captain Paige Trebil had the second-best score of 89.
    • Senior captain Lizzie Swartout shot her personal best score of 95.
    • Senior Jaclyn Ianfolla had the third-best score of 90, her personal best.
    • Junior Logann Hacking.
