City issues reminder of rules for recreational fires

EPLN Staff ReportsBy EPLN Staff ReportsApril 20, 20241 Min Read

The City of Eden Prairie has issued a reminder of rules for recreational fires within the city.

A copy of Eden Prairie’s detailed recreational fire guidelines, which serves as your permit, is available on the city’s website. Residents are asked to adhere to these guidelines for recreational fires.

    • Fires must be maximum size of 3 feet by 3 feet.
    • Fires must be at least 25 feet from structures such as homes, sheds, decks or fences.
    • Fires must be attended while burning.
    • A means to extinguish the fire must be kept nearby.
    • Only wood with a minimum 1-inch diameter may be burned.
    • Recreational fires are permitted between 7 a.m. and midnight.
    • Recreational fires are allowed when wind is less than 15 mph.
    • Any fire or police officer may withdraw permission for recreational fires.
