The Children’s Theatre Company (CTC) has once again captivated audiences with its latest offering, the world premiere of “Babble Lab.” This innovative production, running through April 14, transports both young and old alike into a realm of boundless imagination and whimsy.

Conceived, written, and performed by the talented Autumn Ness, “Babble Lab” is a celebration of discovery, sound, and the power of one’s voice.

Directed by Sarah Agnew, the play unfolds on the Cargill Stage, introducing audiences to a quirky scientist clad in a white lab coat. From the moment the curtains rise, viewers are whisked away on an enchanting journey filled with laughter, surprises, and delightful chaos.

What sets “Babble Lab” apart is its unique blend of theatrical elements. Utilizing a three-part digital screen as a backdrop, Ness seamlessly incorporates imaginative scenes that spring to life before our eyes. The audience is invited to join in the fun as letters and the alphabet become playful companions, dancing across the stage in a symphony of laughter and learning.

One cannot help but marvel at the sheer creativity on display. From underwater adventures to unexpected experiments gone awry, each moment is a testament to the power of imagination. Ness’s boundless energy and comedic prowess bring the character of the scientist to life in a way that is both endearing and utterly captivating.

The production’s use of lighting and sound further enhances the experience, enveloping the audience in a sensory feast that delights the senses. Every blubber and blibber reverberates with joy, leaving smiles plastered on the faces of both young and old.

“Babble Lab” is not merely a show; it’s an invitation to embrace curiosity, to revel in the joy of discovery, and to celebrate the magic of childhood. As Artistic Director Peter C. Brosius aptly puts it, “We can’t wait to share this delightful, totally original new piece with you.”

In a world filled with uncertainty, “Babble Lab” serves as a beacon of hope and wonder. So, strap on your safety goggles, clean out your ears, and prepare for an adventure unlike any other. This is a theatrical experience that promises to leave a lasting impression – one that will spark the imagination and ignite the spirit of every audience member, young and old alike.

For those in the preschool or early elementary age range, I wholeheartedly recommend Babble Lab as a must-see event. It’s an immersive journey that will captivate young minds and inspire a love for the magic of live theater.
