President Joe Biden and former President Donald Trump handily won their respective Democratic and Republican primaries in Minnesota on Tuesday.

It was one of 16 states that had presidential primaries on Super Tuesday.

Unofficial statewide results, with nearly all state precincts reporting, show Trump leading the Republican primary with about 69% of the vote, significantly ahead of former U.N. Ambassador Nikki Haley’s 28.8%.

Biden captured about 70% of the Democratic primary vote. The uncommitted option received about 19%, while U.S. Rep. Dean Phillips (DFL-3, Wayzata) garnered 7.7%.

In Hennepin County, Haley outperformed her statewide results, receiving about 45% of the Republican vote compared to Trump’s 53%.

In his Third District, which includes the western suburbs of the Twin Cities and Eden Prairie, Phillips performed slightly better than his statewide showing but not enough to significantly impact the race. With all precincts reporting, Biden received about 70% of the Democratic votes, Phillips nearly 14%, and uncommitted votes accounted for 13.7%.

As for Eden Prairie, Trump led the Republican vote in Tuesday’s election, with Haley trailing by about 100 votes. On the Democratic side in Eden Prairie, Biden dominated, securing about two-thirds of the votes.
