Eden Prairie man faces indecent exposure charges

Stuart SudakBy Stuart SudakJanuary 18, 2024Updated:January 18, 20242 Mins Read

A 61-year-old Eden Prairie man is facing two counts of indecent exposure, according to a criminal complaint filed in Hennepin County District Court.

The first charge, a gross misdemeanor, alleges exposure in the presence of a minor under 16. This charge could result in up to one year in jail or a $3,000 fine. The second, a misdemeanor, accuses him of exposure in public, carrying a maximum sentence of 90 days in jail or a $1,000 fine.

According to court records, the man pled not guilty to both counts on Dec. 27, 2023. A trial date has been set for March 18.

On Sept. 12, 2022, officers responded to a report in the 16000 block of N. Manor Road in Eden Prairie, where a woman, accompanied by young children, witnessed a man walking to and from a car without a shirt, pants, or underwear, exposing himself. The woman reported that her son, who is under 16, also saw the man’s exposed genitals.

Officers learned from the woman that several residents in the neighborhood have security cameras.

During their investigation, one neighbor told officers he was reluctant to share video footage, wary of potential retaliation. He recounted an incident from three weeks earlier, where he saw the suspect sitting nude on his front patio; the suspect, realizing he was being observed, quickly “rolled” out of his chair and crawled away.

Officers received a copy of the video from Sept. 12, but the quality of the video does not show any explicit content. However, the video does corroborate the woman’s account that she and her young children were passing by the suspect’s house. In the video, a person approaches a vehicle, and the woman and her children promptly turn and walk away.

When questioned, the suspect said he was home at the time of the incident but denied being naked outside his house.
