Pryor not seeking reelection in 2024

Stuart SudakBy Stuart SudakJanuary 16, 2024Updated:January 17, 20241 Min Read

Minnesota state Rep. Laurie Pryor (DFL-49A, Minnetonka) announced Tuesday, Jan. 16, that she will not be running for reelection in 2024.

    Rep. Laurie Pryor

Pryor, who has represented southern Minnetonka and northern Eden Prairie since 2017, plans to retire at the end of her current term.

“It has been my great honor to represent residents of southern Minnetonka and northern Eden Prairie since 2017 as a state representative,” she said in a statement. “I sought to bring people together across the political spectrum to strengthen our schools, protect our air and water, and prevent gun violence, among other initiatives, and I would like to think those efforts met with some success.”

Pryor said she looks forward to the joys of retirement but will miss working with community members, staff, and other elected officials to improve the state.

“I thank all of them for their collaboration and support over the years,” she said.

She also thanked her constituents for the “very great privilege” of representing them in the Legislature.

“I will work hard to represent you in my final legislative session, which starts Feb. 12 and runs until the end of May,” she said.
