Fulfilling wishes for families in need

Students from the International School of Minnesota (ISM) worked hard over the past month to fulfill holiday wish lists for local families experiencing need.

The effort was part of the school’s annual Adopt-a-Family service project, in partnership with Good in the Hood’s Holiday Help Campaign. The goal of the program is to support local families from the Twin Cities who are in extreme need, especially during the holidays.

ISM’s Student Life Organization’s Social Responsibility department worked together by grade to fulfill the wishes of six families. Shawn Morrison, the executive director of Good in the Hood, went to ISM on Dec. 15 to collect the wrapped gifts so the organization could distribute them.

Sarah Bianucci, ISM’s student life coordinator, said, ”This is one of our largest school-wide initiatives to embrace community outreach to families in extreme need in our community. We help fulfill wish lists together as a school to honor the dignity of families we support.”

She added, “Collaborating with Good in the Hood is rewarding in the fact that together, we can make a bigger impact overall. The gift of giving is a life lesson that will benefit our children for a lifetime.”
