Purgatory Creek Park is gearing up to “hop” into action this Saturday as the Eden Prairie Community Foundation presents its 9th annual Prairie Brewfest from 3 to 6 p.m.
Greg Leeper, the Foundation’s executive director, said that 17 vendors will be showcasing their products at the craft brew festival. He described the festival as the centerpiece of “what we’re doing” and added that the event will be bigger this year. Attendees can expect a variety of beers, along with select wines and spirits.
The lineup boasts a diverse selection of breweries, including Bent Paddle, Castle Danger, Excelsior Brewing, Utepils, and Eden Prairie’s very own Fat Pants. Newcomers to the Brewfest, like Dangerous Man, Indeed, Luce Line, and Wild Mind Ales, will also be there. For attendees looking for more than beer, options from Carlos Creek Winery, Parley Lake Winery, and Eden Prairie’s Flying Dutchman Spirits are available to sample.
“We are happy again to present a number returning favorite breweries and wineries and we added some new ones as well,” Leeper said. “We work with Eden Prairie Liquor to identify brewers who could be a good fit for us.”
Beyond beverages, the local band Wondercure will provide live entertainment. Attendees can also enjoy food from the Granite Rock Pizza and Mi Pueblo food trucks, participate in bag-toss games, and have a chance to win door prizes.
A standout feature of the event, as highlighted by Leeper, is the Brewfest Choice Grants program. This initiative empowers attendees to vote on how grants are distributed among local organizations. This year, the organizations vying for support are Eden Prairie Local News, MoveFwd, and Onward Eden Prairie. Based on attendee votes, these organizations stand to receive grants in amounts of $2,000, $1,500, or $1,000.
Leeper emphasized the charitable purpose of the event, noting that “our messaging is to have fun, do good.”
Besides being a “community building fun event,” Leeper said all the proceeds go toward supporting the charitable community-building work of the Foundation.
“We support a variety of projects throughout the community,” he said. “Charitable projects address food insecurity, housing insecurity, and combat domestic violence. We also support projects that enhance our community, such as local music, concerts, plays, youth sports, and scholarships. All funds will go to a variety of projects that make Eden Prairie a great place to live and help support neighbors in need.”
Tickets are available online at prairiebrewfest.com for $35 in advance, with a $40 fee at the door.
He said multiple sponsors make the event possible, with Paraval Apartments as this year’s presenting sponsor.
