The Eden Prairie High School (EPHS) badminton team, under the guidance of coach John Becker, concluded their season with a record of 5 wins and 9 losses.

The Eagles reached the Badminton Team State Tournament this week, where they lost their first match 7-0 against St. Paul Como Park, the No. 9 seed. As the No. 8 seed, Eden Prairie had previously defeated St. Paul Como Park 5-2 in their first match of the year.

Edina beat Burnsville in the state championship match, 4-3.

According to Becker, the top-ranked singles and doubles players (No. 1 and 2) from each school competed in the State Individual Tournament on Thursday at Edina High School.

Becker started the EPHS badminton program in 2000, marking this as the sport’s 24th season. This year’s squad consists of 37 girls, with seniors Sani Deshmukh and Ishani Nandan serving as captains, along with juniors Rhea Yenubari and Olivia Ladegaard.
