EPLN Staff ReportsBy EPLN Staff ReportsMay 16, 20233 Mins Read

Ruth Ann Campbell, 95, passed away peacefully on May 7, 2023, in Howell, Michigan.

Ruth Ann is survived by her sons, John (Jolene) Campbell of Howell, Michigan, and Stuart (Mary) Campbell of Eden Prairie; her brothers, Robert Dzendzel and David (Mary Ann) Dzendzel; her sisters, Georgianna Potter, Suzanne Prince, Trudy Porter, Mary Lou (Tony) Ruzzin, and Victoria (Bruce) Brown; her seven grandchildren; her seven great-grandchildren; and numerous nieces and nephews.

She is preceded in death by her husband, John H. Campbell; her parents, John and Georgianna Dzendzel; her sisters, Dorothy Stabley, Betty Hintzman, and Margaret Broderson; her brothers, Raymond Dzendzel, Frederick (Fritz) Dzendzel, Burdett Dzendzel, and Edward Dzendzel.

Ruth Ann was born Sept. 8, 1927, in Detroit to John and Georgianna (Goode) Dzendzel. She attended school at Redford High School, where she graduated in 1945. A few years later, in 1949, Ruth Ann would marry the love of her life, John Campbell. Together, they moved to Wausau, Wisconsin, in 1951, where she accepted a position at Drott Manufacturing Co. as a sales representative for the next five years. After her time at Drott, she took a position as an account assistant for Wausau Insurance, which later turned into Liberty Mutual. She stayed with this company for close to 20 years.

Ruth Ann and John shared a loving marriage for 64 years and had two children, John and Stuart. She was truly a dedicated wife and loving mother. She was known as a very social, active woman who was deeply involved in her church, where she loved teaching Sunday school. Ruth Ann served as a den mother while her boys were in Boy Scouts. In her free time, she enjoyed playing piano as well as collecting dolls and Hummel figurines. Her family and friends will always remember her as a person who loved her family and her sweet dachshunds.

Ruth Ann will be deeply missed by all who knew her and loved her. A special thanks from Ruth Ann’s family to the staff of Quality Care in Howell and All Americans Home Health & Hospice Care for the special care they provided Ruth Ann.

A memorial service for Ruth Ann will be held at 11 a.m. on Monday, June 12, at Watkins Brothers Funeral Homes, MacDonald Chapel, 315 N. Michigan Ave., Howell, Michigan, 48843. Todd Gillert will be officiating services. All are welcome to attend and celebrate Ruth Ann’s life.

In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions can be made in Ruth Ann’s honor to the Livingston Humane Society. Memories and online condolences can be shared at Watkins Funeral Home.
