The Eden Prairie Eagles boys basketball team hit the ground running on the opening night of the 2022-23 season with an 83-59 win over St. Cloud Tech Tuesday at Eden Prairie High School.
Senior Chiddi Obiazor was picture-perfect, leading the Eagles with 29 points. Obiazor shot 10-for-10 from the field, was 9-for-9 from the free-throw line, and added 14 rebounds to accompany his 100% shooting.
Sophomores Max Lorenson and JJ Sullivan were next in scoring with 13 and 12 points, respectively.
With the game tied 35-all at halftime, the Eagles started the second half with a 15-0 run, ignited by senior Luke Rapp’s back-to-back 3-point shots.
The Eagles never trailed after the run, despite committing 25 turnovers in the game.
Eden Prairie will host Eastview Thursday night at EPHS. It will be a rematch of last season’s state quarterfinals when Eastview eliminated the Eagles from the state tournament.
