Here is some information I’d like to share with the citizens of Eden Prairie before they vote on November 8, Election Day.
In 2018, then EP City Council member Ron Case led an unlawful attempt to ban the sale of a product legal in the State of Minnesota. That product was any military style semi-automatic rifle. At that time, Councilperson Case either didn’t know or didn’t care that his efforts were unlawful. Fast forward to Aug. 31, 2022. After the tragic and horrific suicide at the Scheel’s store, now-Mayor Ron Case was asked during a political forum what he might recommend the City Council do to prevent an incident, like the recent incident at the Scheel’s Store, and gun violence in general? Mayor Case callously responded, “the US does not have a mental health problem, it has a gun problem.” This information was published on Thursday, Sept. 9, 2022 by the Sun Sailor covering Minnetonka/Excelsior/ Eden Prairie. Please vote this rascal out!
In response to the same question, current City Councilperson Kathy Nelson in part, said, “in the city, they (City Council) could make sure families with guns in the city are taking safety measures and that laws are being followed.” My questions for Councilperson Nelson are: (1) Who would enforce this? The police department? (2) How would you enforce this? Without collaborating with the State of Minnesota and the BATFE (Federal Agency) the City Council can’t know who in Eden Prairie is a gun owner. Your suggestion raises the historic spectre of 1936 Germany. Please vote this rascal out.
Ronald Whitman, Eden Prairie
