At a time when many are sick of election coverage, robo calls, and attack ads, Tom Weiler is just getting into his stride. It’s the 4th quarter, there is a lot on the line, and a lot of ground to cover. He’s approaching the final days before the first election he’ll experience with his name on the ballot with calm direction and purpose. This probably comes from his background serving as a commander on nuclear submarines in the Navy. Or maybe from the five years since dealing with the blow of being diagnosed with Parkinson’s (as a young father), and turning an accelerated career in the Navy in for a chance to serve our country in a different way.
Tom is an optimist (except when it comes to Notre Dame football), a hard worker, and a true igniter – of people and ideas. He excels in everything he does and usually has fun and makes friends doing it. He has been to the ends of the earth but still probably prefers sitting around his parents’ kitchen table in Eden Prairie with his family, to any destination his Naval career brought him.
I am proud of my brother for stepping into a profession many people deplore. Tom is who you want on your side when the game is on the line. He’ll be there to listen, think, and act, with respect for you and our country – and he’s just getting started.
