    Steven Lorne Sandness

    By Staff ReportsAugust 10, 2022Updated:August 10, 20222 Mins Read

Steven Lorne Sandness, 77, of Eden Prairie, passed away peacefully with family by his side on Aug. 7, 2022.

Steve is preceded in death by his parents, Allen and Bernice Sandness, and his brothers, Richard and Thomas. He is survived by his wife of 56 years, Susan Sandness; three sons, Kurt (Betsy), Michael (Kellie Brazil), Peter (Polly); Trish Sandness; six grandchildren, Kaleigh, Koury, Madeline, Chloe, Maren, Tyler; and his sister Kathleen Smith.

Steve was born and raised in Two Harbors, Minnesota. He played football, hockey, and golf for the Agates; most importantly, it is where he met “Susie.” He is a graduate of the University of Minnesota, where his love of the Gophers was passed along to his family.

Steve’s third love in life, after family and friends, was his passion for software development. He spent 10 years as an IBM Systems engineer and as director of systems development for National Car Rental prior to the founding of SKAMP Corporation in 1977. Partnering was a core foundation of SKAMP, and that was reflected in his level of care for his clients, colleagues and employees, many of whom became family to Steve. Beyond work, he was a member of Immanuel Lutheran Church and the Eden Prairie Rotary Club.

Steve and Sue raised their family in Eden Prairie. Their love of reading, music and sports, especially hockey, golf and all things related to the teams of Minnesota, became integral in the lives of their children, and that same love is now a part of the next generation with their grandchildren. They also enjoyed traveling by car across the country, timing their travels to visit with family during important milestones, and in their later years seeing the world by cruise ship.

Steve will forever be remembered for his love of family and friends, his devotion to his community and colleagues, and his willingness to offer a helping hand.

A Celebration of Life will be held at 11 a.m. on Tuesday, Aug. 16, with visitation beginning at 10 a.m. at Immanuel Lutheran Church, 16515 Luther Way, Eden Prairie.

In lieu of flowers, family and friends may make memorial donations to the Bloomington/Eden Prairie Meals on Wheels, 8400 France Avenue, Bloomington, Minnesota 55431.
