    Staring Lakes Amphitheater: July concert series lifts listeners

    On Thursday, July 15, a lovely mid-summer evening, over 100 people listened to Stephen Ramsey conduct the Dakota Valley Symphony (DVS) through a charming program of movie music and show tunes at the Staring Lake Amphitheater in Eden Prairie.

    The tunes included “Star Trek” themes and an original piece by DVS trombonist Randy Stokes called “Barnstormer’s March.”

    As the shadows lengthened, a doe and her fawn appeared on the edge of the wildflower meadow northeast of Staring Lake Amphitheatre. They appeared to be wagging their white tails in time to “Raiders of the Lost Ark.”

    Eden Prairie’s “Starring at Staring” concerts will continue with:

    • Folksinger Ann Reed on Sunday, July 18th, 6-7 pm;
    • Taraangini School of Dance on Thursday, July 22nd from 7-8:30 pm;
    • Andean/Latin fusion from Ecuador Manta on Friday July 23rd from 7-8:30 pm;
    • Eden Prairie Community Band’s “Jazz on the Prairie” on Sunday July 25th from 6-7:30 pm.
