An excavator operator hit a gas main at the intersection of Mitchell and Cumberland Roads on the morning of Thursday, June 10 around 8 am. Centerpoint Energy crews responded and had the gas shut off by 9:30 am, and Mitchell Road was reopened soon after.

Two homeowners temporarily lost gas service, but no one was hurt.
The accident occurred during a repaving of Cumberland Road that Carter Schulze, Engineering Project Manager for the city, estimated would be complete in 2 1/2 weeks.
Schulze said repairs were completed and gas service was restored by early Thursday afternoon.
