    By Jim BayerApril 1, 2021Updated:April 1, 20213 Mins Read
    EP COVID update

COVID-19 case rates in Eden Prairie have inched back up to where they were three months ago, according to Hennepin County’s COVID-19 Public Dashboard.

Eden Prairie’s case rate per 10,000 people for the period of March 9-22 stood at 30.0. That compares to 31.6 for the last two weeks of December 2020. The rate had dropped to 16 the first two weeks of February.

Hennepin County’s overall numbers are higher but compare a bit more favorably over the same time period. The county’s case rate was 26.9 from March 9-22, up from 18.2 the first two weeks of February, but down from 38 the last two weeks of December.

Eden Prairie topped out at 100 cases per 10,000 in the middle of November 2020. The number of COVID-19 related deaths in Eden Prairie has remained at 18 for several weeks.

Edina, Hopkins and Bloomington also are experiencing slightly higher case rates over the same period; Minnetonka is up as well, but to a lesser extent (see details below).

Actual reported cases in Eden Prairie schools have increased since the beginning of February but remain relatively low at zero for staff and 12 for students for the period of March 12-26, the most recent data reported.

The increases correspond with similar increases across Minnesota, according to Minnesota health officials. There were 411 COVID-19 cases in Minnesota hospitals on March 28, including 102 in intensive care. That’s the highest ICU level since late January.
